My flight from Charlotte departed at 6 PM on Monday and arrived at Fiumicino around 9:30AM on Tuesday.
The drive from the airport to my hotel should have taken about an hour or less, but traffic was bad and it took considerably longer. Of particular note was that lanes had little meaning. With two lanes marked, the drivers frequently used three. Scooters zoomed in and out of traffic. My driver was aggressive, but at the same time, he allowed pedestrians to walk across the street in front of him, and cars to enter from side streets.
He pointed out a place within walking distance of my hotel where native Romans ate and he said it was good and moderately priced.
He also pointed out how long the lines to the Vatican Museum were, and suggested a method for circumventing those line.

It was an easy walk to the Vatican, and also to the Pantheon and the Piazza Navona.
After I had checked into my hotel, I hurried to the Vatican to try and make it to the Noon Mass. Unfortunately, security had changed a lot since my previous pilgrimage. There was a line in the Piazza waiting to pass through the security checkpoint. I got in line about 11:55, but didn't reach the south transept of St Peter's Basilica, where Mass was at the Altar of St Joseph, until 12:15.
So I started my Pilgrimage where I had ended my previous one beneath the Statue of St Norbert, Bishop, in front of the altar of St Joseph. The priest was concluding his homily (in Italian as was the entire Mass).
I had forgotten my camera, so the pictures I have of St Peter's are from Thursday.
The next Mass was at 5 PM, at the altar of the Chair of St Peter. It was prayed in Latin, with the readings and homily in Italian. The priest summarized his homily in English afterwards. I was grateful for that last part particularly. I recognized the songs, and knew some of the English lyrics. The Gospel was the naming of the Twelve.
